Description

Easy Crockpot Barbecue Ribs bursting with flavor, tender pork ribs slow-cooked to perfection in a sweet and tangy BBQ sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 pounds (1.41.8 kg) pork baby back ribs or St. Louis style ribs
  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons (6 g) paprika
  • 1 teaspoon (3 g) garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon (3 g) onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon (1 g) black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon (0.5 g) cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 1/2 cups (360 ml) barbecue sauce, divided
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Prepare the ribs by patting them dry with paper towels. Carefully remove the membrane from the back of the rib racks by sliding a butter knife under the membrane and using a paper towel to grip and peel it off in one piece. Cut the racks into sections of 3-4 ribs each to fit better in your crockpot.
  2. Step 2: Combine the dry rub ingredients by mixing brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). Rub the spice mixture generously all over the ribs, making sure every surface is covered. For deeper flavor, let the seasoned ribs rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or overnight if time permits.
  3. Step 3: Whisk together the cooking liquid by combining 1 cup of barbecue sauce with apple cider vinegar and Worcestershire sauce to create the flavor base for the ribs.
  4. Step 4: Arrange the ribs in the crockpot by standing them along the walls with the meaty side facing outward. Pour the barbecue sauce mixture over the ribs, ensuring it gets between each section. Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until the meat is tender but not falling off the bones.
  5. Step 5: Broil the ribs after removing them from the crockpot and placing them on a foil-lined baking sheet, meaty side up. Brush the remaining barbecue sauce over the tops of the ribs and broil on high for 3-5 minutes until the sauce is bubbly and caramelized.

Notes

Fresh ingredients will always yield the best flavor results.
