Description

Hot Italian Sub Sliders packed with spicy salami, pepperoni, melted cheese, and zesty Italian dressing  quick, comforting, crowd-pleasing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12-count package slider buns (Hawaiian sweet rolls work beautifully)
  • 4 oz (113g) genoa salami, thinly sliced
  • 4 oz (113g) pepperoni, thinly sliced
  • 4 oz (113g) capicola or ham, thinly sliced
  • 8 oz (226g) provolone cheese, sliced
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) pepperoncini, drained and chopped
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) roasted red peppers, drained and sliced
  • 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon (5g) Italian seasoning
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (about 2 teaspoons)
  • 1 tablespoon (5g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) Dijon mustard

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat Your Oven Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper for easy cleanup. Take your package of slider buns and, without separating individual rolls, use a large serrated knife to slice horizontally through the entire slab of buns. Place the bottom half in your prepared baking dish.
  2. Step 2: Layer Provolone Cheese Layer half of your provolone cheese across the bottom buns, slightly overlapping slices to ensure cheese in every bite. This creates your first moisture barrier to prevent soggy bottoms on your Hot Italian Sub Sliders.
  3. Step 3: Add Italian Meats Begin layering your Italian meats. Start with the genoa salami, slightly folding each piece for texture. Follow with capicola or ham, and then the pepperoni, creating distinct layers of flavor. Remember that the meats will shrink slightly when heated, so don’t be afraid to make generous, slightly overlapping layers.
  4. Step 4: Add Pepperoncini and Red Peppers Evenly distribute your chopped pepperoncini and sliced roasted red peppers across the meat layer. These provide bright, tangy notes that cut through the richness of the meats and cheese in your Hot Italian Sub Sliders.
  5. Step 5: Add Remaining Provolone and Top Buns Add your remaining provolone on top of the vegetables, then carefully position the top half of the buns over the assembled sliders. Press down gently to compact the ingredients without crushing the bread.
  6. Step 6: Make Butter Topping In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, olive oil, Italian seasoning, minced garlic, grated Parmesan, and Dijon mustard until well combined. This aromatic mixture will transform the tops of your sliders into golden, flavorful perfection.
  7. Step 7: Apply Butter Mixture Using a pastry brush, generously apply the butter mixture across the tops of the sliders, ensuring it seeps into the seams between buns. Don’t rush this step – take your time to get complete coverage for the most flavorful Hot Italian Sub Sliders.
  8. Step 8: Bake and Serve Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until the tops are golden brown and the cheese has completely melted. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to settle.

Notes

Fresh ingredients will always yield the best flavor results.
